Britain Suffers Biggest Wealth Drop in the Developed World

British adults have suffered the steepest real-terms wealth decline among developed economies since 2020, according to the UBS Global Wealth Report 2026. Median wealth fell by roughly £28,500, leaving the typical adult with assets worth just over £95,500.

The finding does not mean every household suddenly lost money from a bank account. It reflects the changing value of homes, savings, investments and debts after inflation—revealing how rising prices quietly reduced the purchasing power of Britain’s accumulated wealth.
