China’s ‘Impossible’ Pyramid Is Full of Homes — Inside Kunshan’s Architectural Wonder

At first glance, the enormous stepped structure rising above Kunshan appears closer to a science-fiction set than an apartment building. Its stacked terraces create the illusion of a modern pyramid assembled from hundreds of giant blocks.

Yet the building is neither an ancient monument nor an experimental concept abandoned on paper. It forms part of a functioning urban complex where homes, workplaces and commercial spaces are arranged inside one of China’s most unconventional architectural landmarks.
