Britain is preparing for another rise in temperatures only days after record-breaking June heat finally loosened its grip. The Met Office says heatwave conditions are increasingly likely in parts of the country as high pressure returns.
The third hot spell of 2026, however, is not expected to repeat the most punishing features of the previous two. Temperatures should remain lower, humidity is forecast to be less oppressive, and the hottest conditions will again be concentrated in particular regions rather than covering the entire UK.
