Eating on a plane is not only about hunger. Cabin pressure, dry air, limited movement, close seating, and travel stress can all change how your body feels after a meal. A snack that seems harmless in the airport may leave you bloated, thirsty, sluggish, or uncomfortable once the aircraft is in the air.
That does not mean passengers need to follow a strict “flight diet.” Nutrition experts quoted by Condé Nast Traveller note that there is no clear rule saying people must eat completely differently when flying. Still, both nutritionists and flight attendants suggest avoiding certain foods and drinks that can worsen dehydration, bloating, smells, swelling, or discomfort during a flight.
