Soup can look like the safest lunch in the cupboard: warm, quick, filling, and easy to keep at work or home. But the warning around pre-packaged soups is not about soup itself — it is about what can be hidden inside the tin, tub, or carton.
FoodBible reported that NHS Better Health has urged people to rethink some common packaged lunch choices, including tinned soup, because they can make it easier to consume more salt, sugar, or fat than expected. The NHS advises adults to eat no more than 6g of salt a day, and soups are one of the foods where salt is often already built in before you add anything yourself.
