Researchers Gave Virtual Robots Curiosity — They Started Learning Like Toddlers

Children often learn by doing things nobody asked them to do. They test boundaries, repeat strange actions and sometimes become worse at a skill before understanding it more deeply.

Researchers recreated part of that pattern inside a simulated world. The result was not a digital child, but an artificial learner whose unexpected mistakes revealed a different route towards flexible understanding.
