All Foreign Criminals in the UK to Face Deportation Under New Plans

The UK government plans to widen deportation action beyond foreign offenders receiving lengthy prison terms. Under proposals reported on July 1, any foreign national convicted of an offence could enter the Home Office’s deportation process, including those given short or non-custodial sentences.

The headline does not mean every conviction will automatically result in removal. The policy broadens who can be considered and tightens family-life arguments, while legal exceptions, individual decisions and practical obstacles remain.
