Health officials have issued an urgent vaccination reminder after 21 mpox cases were confirmed in Northern Ireland within three weeks. The rise is particularly striking because only nine cases had been reported there from the beginning of 2023 to the end of May 2026.
The warning comes as summer travel and large gatherings increase opportunities for close contact. The Public Health Agency is not recommending vaccination for everyone, but it wants eligible people to receive their first dose or complete the two-dose course before travelling.
